Jeremy Pullan - Silsden Health Centre “ Throughout the installation the team from SIBCAS were always on hand and responded quickly and efficiently to all request for information, and alterations. We were kept fully informed throughout and the building was even ready ahead of schedule. The on site team understood that we needed to minimise disruption to our patients and they worked with us making suggestions and alternations to their scheme of work to make sure that this was the case. ”

Jeremy Pullan - Silsden Health Centre

Battlehill Health Centre

BRIEF

The Primary Health Care Trust identified a need for additional healthcare facilities in the Wallsend area of Newcastle upon Tyne. Following an intensive tendering process SiBCAS was awarded the contract to supply a turnkey package which also involved service connection and soft and hard landscaping. Lockable storage facilities, electric roller shutters, fire and intruder alarms were also included within the package.

PROJECT SCALE

Total Floor area 840m2

Single Storey – PermaSpace

BUILDING USE

·         GP Consulting Rooms

·         Echocardiography Room

·         Patient Treatment Rooms

·         Counseling Services Room

·         X- Ray Room

·         Administrations Area

·         Ultrasound Room

·         Staff & Patient Toilets

·         Reception & Waiting Area

·         Walk in Treatment Areas

·         Tarmacadam car park/pathways

·         Landscaping

CHALLANGES

·         The site was previously a petrol station and therefore posed a problem of contaminated land and the buried underground tanks had to be removed before any works could commence on site.

·         The site was located just off a main service trunk road, so deliveries had to be co-ordinate to ensure traffic delays were kept to a minimum.

·         Walls, ceilings & floors of the X-ray room had to be lined with specialist lead.

·         Treatment rooms walls were lined with wipe clean linings to eliminate germ collection points.

OUTCOME

SiBCAS worked with a number of consultants to ensure that, although a temporary centre, the medical facilities were completed to a very high standard all in line with the client’s specification. Site Logistics were coordinated to allow safe installation of the building and the project outcome was a success.

Draper’s Academy

CASE STUDY – Draper’s Academy, London Borough Of Havering

THE BRIEF

As part of the national BSF programme, Drapers Academy were having part of the school refurbished. This necessitated a requirement for full design and build of six fully operational science classrooms and changing rooms. SiBCAS handled design, build, all associated groundwork and service connections to the facility.

PROJECT SCALE

745 m sq

Single storey - Permaspace

Total project value of £650k

BUILDING USE

·         Science Classrooms

·         Science preparation rooms

·         Girls and boys shower/changing facility

·         Staff offices

·

CHALLANGES

·         Co-ordination of all Utility Service Providers

·         Integration of all gas safety equipment

·         Integration of new to existing systems – fire, sercurity alarms etc

·         Completing the project within an active school site – during term time

·         SiBCAS had to install a building across the playground area whilst maintaining access for staff and pupils

·         Due to the site topography, the PermaSpace Buildings needed to have a specially designed temporary foundation.

OUTCOME

After the design consultation, SiBCAS developed the client’s ideas and requirements into workable buildings; and offered advice on the technical aspects of the product, logistics, services and connections, planning and building control. Once the brief was analysed a number of cost saving strategies were explored. The most significant of these was the savings SiBCAS were able to offer by utilising existing services.  The client’s brief called for new services to be brought onto the site by the utility companies. However, having determined there was sufficient capacity in the existing supplies, SiBCAS were able to ‘tap’ into these to power the temporary facility. This represented a significant saving, both financial and time on site.  The installation of high frequency lighting as standard on this building meant all the lighting would be controlled using PIR sensors. This greatly reduced the energy required to light the building.

Successful collaboration between the client, building user and SiBCAS meant the building was delivered on time and on budget, meeting the requirements of the end user.

East Manchester Academy

East Manchester Academy

THE BRIEF

To supply a changing facility complete with showers to full DDA2 specification as part of the academy’s expansion of their sports curriculum,

PROJECT SCALE

• Size: 24.4m x 9.75m (80’ x 32’)

• Timescale: 2 weeks install. Civils by Cruden Construction.

• Hire Period: 2 year minimum hire period

BUILDING USE

Changing Rooms complete with showers, toilets and office.

CHALLENGES

The building had to be delivered and installed within a live to school to very exacting time scales.

As the changing facility was to be sited within the grounds of the new academy, the building was to ‘fit in’ with the surrounding buildings and offer an internal finish to match the quality that the academy already offers. All challenges were accomplished.

OUTCOME

The building was delivered on time and on budget, with the academy being very pleased with the finished product.

TESTIMONIAL

The PE Department are delighted with their new environment, being particularly impressed by the space at their disposal and the quality of finish, which exceeded their expectations.
