TONBRIDGE GRAMMAR SCHOOL

TGS is a high achieving selective grammar school with academy status, educating girls between the ages of 11 and 16 and girls and boys in the Sixth Form.

Actavo | Building Solutions were appointed following a recommendation by AA Projects for the Design & Build of a new modular sixth form block for Tonbridge Grammar School.

The 880m2 modular building was completed in August 2015 and opened for the new school term in September 2015. 

The building was designed by Bond Bryan Architects and incorporates a standing seam zinc cladding and roof system.  The front elevation is a full glazed curtain walling system allowing natural light into the classroom and study area.

Actavo | Building Solutions provided a full turnkey package for this project, including all the piling, groundworks, external landscaping and services.  The M & E design incorporates natural ventilation through a breathing buildings system and In-tek roof vents.  Ceiling mounted radiant panels provide heating throughout and concrete floors provide a solid feel and improved acoustic performance.

SOLUTION

A double story sixth form center to accommodate additional pupil intake and free up space in the existing sixth form area.

GRANARD PRIMARY SCHOOL

Actavo were appointed by the London Borough of Wandsworth to Design & Build a new teaching block at Granard Primary School ready for their new intake in September 2015.

Designed to meet BIM Level 2 requirements, Actavo | Building Solutions fabricated and constructed a 1280m² sustainable, two-storey, standalone modular classroom complex.
The block housed 7 classrooms, open learning studios, cloakrooms, WC’s, kitchen facilities and staffrooms.

With build time on site being only 22 weeks, off-site construction provided not only a smoother construction process but also reduce costs and waste by using BIM to identify potential issues before they arise.

Designed to surpass all sustainability targets and to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards, this modular building encompasses mono-crystalline PV panels to reduce energy costs, wind catchers in increase ventilation and sun pipes to increase natural light.

The external of the building was finished in a real brick and grey composite cladding, with a mono pitch canopy placed in the play area to provide rain and sun cover.

NORTH WALSHAM HOSPITAL

Actavo was commissioned by the hospital to design and build a 24-bed extension complete with a central administration hub and two separate wings to form an L-shaped building.

The new facility was linked to the existing Rebecca House unit which was built in the 1920s with the new building designed to fit in with the overall aesthetics.

The building comprised of 44 pre-assembled modular units completed with brick cladding and a dual-pitched roof fitted with banks of solarPV panels to reduce the hospital’s carbon footprint and reduce energy bills.

Completed over winter 2011/12, Actavo managed a full turnkey project with all groundworks, landscaping, installation of M&E services and fit out.

SIGNALLING SOLUTIONS

Modular office accommodation provided to Signalling Solutions, market leader in train controlled solutions at Bristol, Temple Meads railway station.

Actavo | Building Solutions was appointed by Signalling Solutions to provide new office accommodation in Bristol city center.  The eventual site was a disused car park close to Bristol Temple Meads railway station and close to the A4, giving Signalling Solutions easy access to transport links.

The final design was a two-storey office facility with closed and open plan office spaces, large and small meeting rooms, breakout areas, kitchen and canteen and toilets, including all services. Externally we completed all groundworks, including provision of car park spaces, gates and installation of cycle storage and a smoking hut.

Comprising 26 bays, Actavo | Building Solutions designed, manufactured, delivered, installed and commissioned the building in spring 2013 with the project delivered on time and to budget.
