Profile
U-Roof's modern method approach to the roofing element successfully combines the tried and tested traditional methods with modern materials and techniques. This provides a more cost effective holistic approach to the installation of roofing systems for any project.
The unique and patented design of our sections allows any pitch to be catered for including complicated hips and valleys all produced in panel form in factory controlled conditions. These panels can be assembled in-situ or assembled at low level and lifted into position as whole units.
Using modern methods of construction to promote efficiencies on site are now more than important than ever. Bob Lyons U-Roof's Technical director recently gave a series presentations describing how using U-Roofs design methodology could improve these areas. Mr Lyons stated "Although our approach may be deemed as too different for some in the industry it is important to remember that this system uses a traditional approach but takes it to the next stage. The prefabricated units are all manufactured to tolerances of
+/- 1mm, the joists are produced with fixing holes and notching plus service holes for follow on trades, as standard. Our system can be assembled at ground level and can be put together by any competent person for a full or modular lift. If required it can be assembled in position on the structure itself. The system has been developed to suit the traditional, steel frame, timber, thin joint or modular building methods. No two sites are the same and structure sizes and configurations do vary, but we know that by using our system site installation periods will be reduced and if assembled at low level, health and safety is improved, reducing costs and the possibility of accident."
Products/Services
U-Roof is a specialist designers and fabricators of light gauge modular roofing systems. Each roof is self supporting without the need for internal truss type supports, giving a clear area within the roof itself.
Based in Halifax close to the motorway network, our facility is capable of producing high volume units and the more bespoke one off. The clear void area can be used for additional storage or working space for a project, as a cover for equipment normally visible on a structure or to provide a cost effective method of providing a pitched roof using methods taken directly from modular building manufacturing.

Case Studies
U-Roof is pleased to announce the successful installation of it latest project, as with most modern construction sites access can be constricted and the site itself is often tight for space. After assessing the construction details and site requirements it was decided to use the U-Roof system but to assemble the frames in situ rather than using a modular installation method.
Andrew Kay the contractor for the project describes the installation procedure, "By first using the U-Roof Joist profile and following prepared drawings the positions were marked out on the wall plate and fixed into position with No.10 woodscrews. Decking boards were then added to provide a working platform and the internal floor of the structure. Internal cheek walls were erected to provide support and set the pitch angle of the main panels which were lifted in front of the building face at the front and rear and simply bolted into position. The system was adjustable on site to cover for building tolerances etc and also included prepared opening for the windows. The design of the joist system and connection brackets to allow correct positioning of the stairs and extra supports under internal walls was again a simple bolt connection which again improved installation time".
Using self tapping screws and bolted connections for the structure provides a completely ridged unit which the insulation, battens etc can be fixed to in a traditional way. With the elements being pre designed and pre fabricated to suit the design, installation time has been reduced and accuracy for follow on trades increased. For this project elements were assembled on site, however they can be assembled in modular form and lifted into place to increase installation time further.
